ARTIST STATEMENT:

As an artist I was interested in the idea of "the Sublime and the Beautiful"I sought to explore our relationship with the land and natural world by looking at how it had been shaped and mapped over time – by agricultural, social, political, and religious influences.

Philosophically, I was guided by Edmund Burke's "Philosophical Enquiry into the Origin of our Ideas of the Sublime and Beautiful" (1757), and well as the Contemporary Sublime.

A previous major project, Colonisation, contested the position of contemporary textiles whilst investigating its possibilities in relation to the Sublime - awesome qualities of biological warfare; genocide; global epidemics and pandemics.  The particular focus for that project was on North America and Canada, through the lens of historical record.

Alongside this, I worked to commission for private clients around the globe.  These works are not generally listed on my website.
